Salman Khan sentenced to five years imprisonment in blackbuck poaching case:
Salman Khan: While fellow accused – Bollywood celebrities Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were acquitted, Salman was declared guilty and fined Rs 10,000 too.
Salman Khan was found guilty because the court noticed that there was sufficient evidence against the celebrity to implicate him in the instance. His legal staff had escalated to get a lenient punishment however wasn’t to be. The Legislation basically suggests that the actor might spend a minumum of one night behind bars.
Salman and another Bollywood stars were accused of two blackbucks – an endangered creature – in Bhagoda ki Dhani at Kankani village near Jodhpur on October 2, 1998, during the shooting of this film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. Public Prosecutor Bhawani Singh Bhati had stated that most of them were at a Gypsy automobile that night, together with Salman from the driving seat. In addition, he stated that when Salman seen a herd of black dollars, he shot and killed two of them.
Salman’s counsel, however, had stated the prosecution had participated in tampering and generating evidence in addition to roping in bogus witnesses to prove its own case.
While Salman was billed under Section 9/51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, the other celebrities were charged under Section 51 read with Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code
